Swimsuit Slimdown Drink--steb 1 by Dr. Oz

I love grapefruit  and the idea of a swimsuit slimdown, sooo this concoction just seemed like a must try!

Ingredients:

1 cup grape fruit juice

2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar

1 teaspoon of honey for sweetness>>>optional<<< (only 20 extra cals)

Direction & Benefits:

Drink Dr. Oz’s secret slimdown drink before every meal and you’ll literally burn away your fat while enjoying a citrusy delight.

The juice from grapefruit  is loaded with vitamin C, which will help you burn fat faster, especially during exercise. In fact, a study showed that people with adequate vitamin C levels burned 30% more fat during moderate exercise than individuals low in vitamin C. Meanwhile, the acetic acid contained in the vinegar may switch on genes your body needs to pump out fat-burning proteins. . Drink Dr. Oz’s secret slimdown drink before every meal and you’ll literally burn away your fat while enjoying a citrusy delight

Post pinvestigation: I am sad to say it, but I was not able to stick with the slim down drink regimen and therefore it obviously didn’t work for me =( Between the unpleasant vinegar taste and inconvenience (I would always forget to pickup more grapefruit juice so I was not able to be consistent with the regimen), I did not find this slim down drink a realistic option for me.  However, I would love to hear feedback from anybody who has tried this drink regimen and let me know if it worked for you?!?!

However, I still like grapefruit=)

I eat broiled grapefruit for breakfast about 3 times a week and it’s so easy!

Check out the recipe  so you can still get your grapefruit in the morning to jump start the fat burning process!

Kel =)

ps. let me know what you think!!

    Well did it work?

    Has this worked for anyone?

    • pinvestigation March 21, 2013 at 3:56 pm #

I hate to say it, but I quit it… the apple vinegar three times a day was just not happening.. I did it once a day before dinner for about a week, but I didn’t loose any weight (however they still say once a day is better than nothing)… What I am trying now is different types of protein shakes to help improve my protein intake and metabolism. I’ll post about that once I decide which is most tasty, nutritious and keeps me full!

Hi. I started a Facebook challenge with this drink a week ago. So far, after day 4 I lost 3lbs and 1inch on my waist (did not check yesterday bc I do feel the difference!). My neighbor weighed in last night and she lost 2lbs. We did an initial weigh in last Saturday. So so far it is working for me. I drink the whole thing about 10mins before I eat. I exercise pretty intensely on the regular (before and since this challenge). I use grapefruit juice and I pretty much love the taste. I make the drink 30min before consumption and places it in the freezer to chill for 15-20min. I can see the difference mostly on my love handles and belly! Did it work??

    • pinvestigation April 2, 2013 at 4:35 pm #

so i’m sad to say but I sort of just stopped doing it once I ran out of grapefruit juice. I will say if you do start doing it to just chug the drink—the concoction does not taste terrible at first, but it has one nasty after taste. I would end up gargling some water after downing the cup. Let me know if it works out for you!!

      • foxyandcarver April 3, 2013 at 4:14 am #

Ahaa, that sounds so foul to chug that concoction! Did you see any benefits to doing it? I’m tempted to try it, but I feel a bit doubtful about these sort of remedies! I don’t think much can beat good old exercise!

I love your blog by the way! Great stuff. Jess

      • pinvestigation April 3, 2013 at 10:37 am #

i didn’t see any benefit, but i didn’t do it for long.. I’m with you, I just stick with exercise!

Ugh. Too much vinegar. Made me sick after 2 days. Now I’m too scared to drink it again for fear of more nausea. 😦

    • pinvestigation April 4, 2013 at 4:21 pm #

yea, the drink has a terrible kick to it. I could handle downing the drink once a day, but certainly not three time a day..

    • Melissa August 25, 2013 at 8:49 am #

I have read it was 2 teaspoon of apple cider vineger instead of tablespoon.Maybe that would make a difference?

      • Anonymous November 5, 2013 at 8:05 pm #

I have tried this as well, and I agree it taste better with 2 tsp instead of 2 tbsp. I also tried it with welche’s grape juive and pineapple juice. I loved the pineapple juice better than the grape juice.

      • pinvestigation November 6, 2013 at 7:38 pm #

hmm, is it working for you with the changes?

      • Anonymous January 30, 2014 at 7:08 am #

I have this recipe and mine also says 2 teaspoons, not 2 tablespoons. That’s a huge difference in taste and on your digestive system.

      • pinvestigation January 30, 2014 at 10:48 am #

I’m sure it does taste better. I got my recipe straight from Dr Oz’s website:http://www.doctoroz.com/videos/swimsuit-slimdown-plan

      • pinvestigation May 16, 2013 at 3:43 pm #

i have not had success with the slim down drink b-c i quit after a few days when i ran out of juice… However I purchased the book ¨It starts with food¨ and plan to share my experience with a 30 day detox!

How long before you started seeing results?

    • mommyofthree June 14, 2013 at 10:48 am #

      I have lost 9 pounds already !!

      • pinvestigation June 14, 2013 at 1:55 pm #

        that’s awesome!

      • ghenie July 20, 2013 at 12:26 am #

how long have you done it?

    • Tiwana June 23, 2013 at 12:04 pm #

Hannah! You are correct. It is working for me. I exercise 6 days a week very intensely but stalled in my progress. This drink, in one week, tightened my core and I dropped 4lbs. My neighbor is doing it as well with now exercise and she’s lost 2lbs. We will continue this.

  6. CoCo June 17, 2013 at 2:16 pm #

Sooooo did it “work”? Actually addin this to my “already eatin better” but need some ‘snacks’

    • Tiwana July 29, 2013 at 9:00 pm #

Coco I sank on Bare Naked brand trail mix and for night cravings I drink instant oat meal. It works because these are filling foods. I recommend you try it…if you like oatmeal💪

Does it have to be fresh grapefruit juice or in the container from the store?

    • pinvestigation July 22, 2013 at 10:15 am #

nope, store bought grape fruit juice is fine

      • Stephanie July 29, 2013 at 9:35 am #

Today is my first day trying it. The recipe I found said you can use orange or pineapple juice as well. I had some orange juice in the ‘fridge…it wasn’t bad. I could taste the vinegar a little bit. I did not add the honey. I’ll buy some grapefruit juice today and to see the difference.

    • Tiwana July 29, 2013 at 8:58 pm #

I bought the Simple Grapefruit juice because its no sugar added. I seem to be different as I actually love the taste. Been doing it for over a month now and I tell you I feel the difference when I don’t drink it. Digestion seems slower. With this drink, that stuffed bloated feeling is gone as well. The Dr. Oz method is actually a drink, a salad, and a meal. This week I’m am going to add the salad as well! Yay!😜

  8. Tammy Ellis September 5, 2013 at 11:15 am #

Have started drinking this drink and is actually isn’t bad. Just curious to see how well it works. i

    • pinvestigation September 5, 2013 at 3:31 pm #

I’m trying it out again.. currently drinking the concoction at the moment. Last time I tried it out I ran out of grapefruit juice, got lazy and stopped so I personally didn’t see any results. Hopefully this time around I will be more dedicated =)

  9. Anonymous September 12, 2013 at 7:43 am #

I’ve been drinking this for about a week now and while I can’t say I notice anything on the scale, I have noticed that my tummy doesn’t appear as bloated as before. Maybe the vinegar and vitamin C are helping to flush out water or something. I think i’ll continue it for a while to see if I get any tangible weight loss. By the way, I walk 5-6 times a day with a little jogging in between.

  10. Lisa October 14, 2013 at 5:44 am #

It’s supposed to be 2 teaspoons of vinegar, not 2 tablespoons, that might be why no one liked the taste. With 2 teaspoons and the honey, it’s actually a really nice taste.

    • pinvestigation October 14, 2013 at 10:20 am #

That does sound tastier, but I found the recipe from Dr Oz’s website that says the following:
Swimsuit Slimdown Tip 1: Sip Smart

Before every meal, try Dr. Oz’s secret swimsuit slimdown drink of a choice – a mixture of grapefruit juice and apple cider vinegar. Simply mix 1 cup of grapefruit juice with 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, stir, and enjoy. The juice is loaded with vitamin C, which will help you burn fat faster, especially during exercise. In fact, a study showed that people with adequate vitamin C levels burned 30% more fat during moderate exercise than individuals low in vitamin C. Meanwhile, the acetic acid contained in the vinegar may switch on genes your body needs to pump out fat-burning proteins. If you find the drink a bit tart, add 1 teaspoon of honey, which only adds 20 calories, for sweetness. Drink Dr. Oz’s secret slimdown drink before every meal and you’ll literally burn away your fat while enjoying a citrusy delight.

      Did you ever find out?

      • pinvestigation June 12, 2014 at 11:07 pm #

I’m sorry, I wasn’t able to stick it out… =( please let me know if it works for you!

  12. lux January 28, 2014 at 2:35 pm #

so? did you try it again?

  13. Kelly February 3, 2014 at 7:29 pm #

I read that the website recipe had a typo, and that the clip from the show stated two teaspoons of vinegar. That being said, I have not tried this myself since I am doing Weight Watchers, but I might give it a shot if I hit a plateau!

  14. cherie January 24, 2016 at 6:55 pm #

I have tried this and it does work. I use 100% grapefruit with 2 teasepoons of Braggs apple cider vinegar.

    • pinvestigation January 24, 2016 at 9:01 pm #

How long did you try it for before seeing results? Did you exercise in conjunction with the drink?

      • cherie January 24, 2016 at 9:09 pm #

It took two weeks when i noticed the results. I did not exercise at all. I am also eating whatever i want.

  15. Rachel Cicero November 19, 2016 at 9:19 am #

I have been doing this for a week with oj and 2 tsps of ACV. I have lost 8 lbs!
